It seems like the Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aime has left the doors open for a possible Persona 5 release for the Nintendo Switch.
Since Joker was revealed as the next DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, fans have been speculating on a port. There’s also a rumour of a Switch port from MysticDistance who is a translator and writer for Persona Central and KHInsider. Speaking to IGN, Reggie didn’t confirm nor denied the rumours. He pretty much gave a vague response with the following
You know, I can’t comment on that.
Judging by his comment, it doesn’t seem like it’s out of the question. He went ahead by saying that he want’s the “Best games and best developers” for the Nintendo Switch. The comments made was to show that he’s actively seeking for developers and get as much content possible on the switch.
Again, from our perspective, we’ve been clear. We want all the best content on our platform. All the best content, all the best developers. And so our job is to continue growing the install base for Nintendo Switch to drive engagement of our players, to grow the audience. As that happens, then developers see the opportunity.
Atlus wouldn’t exactly step out the realm when it comes to making games for the Nintendo Platform since Atlus have made many games for Nintendo since the NES. Atlus are currently developing Shin Megami Tensei V Exclusively for Nintendo Switch but have a port of Persona 5 will be the first time we see a main line Persona game on a Nintendo platform.
Persona 5 is currently available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
