Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is dominating the UK Gaming Charts this week again for its seventh consecutive #1. In the midst of the Summer, Crash is going toe to toe with Lego The Incredibles, currently at #2 in the UK Gaming Charts for its fourth week. But that doesn’t mean that the UK Gaming Charts doesn’t have to fully be on a standstill until September. This week, the charts see three new debut titles with one being a brand new IP.
Madden NFL 19 makes its entrance into the charts at #5 breathing new life into the Madden NFL series. The game was developed with an intense focus on gameplay and immersion, EA hoping to parallel the dominant success of the FIFA series. Madden NFL 19 is a great successor to its previous yearly title boasting rich new animation and a graphical haul to the engine. The game is well received by critics receiving a unanimous 82% across all three platforms on Metacritic. However, the game is currently being panned left, right and center to the negativity and disappointment of players. We probably won’t see Madden NFL 19 on the charts again this year.
Overcooked! 2 makes its entrance into the charts at #8 barely just making it through the retail charts. We’re sure that it’s doing extremely well in digital sales. The sequel boasts many improvements over its first title and for the first time, releasing on the Nintendo Switch. The game is currently averaging around 82% rating across all four platforms and is being talked about on social media all week long. It’s going to be interesting if the retail charts can keep Overcooked! 2 for a little bit longer…
Barely making it into the UK Gaming Charts this week at #10 is We Happy Few. Originally unveiled at the Xbox E3 Media Briefing way back in 2016 and subsequently available in early access straight after, the game finally gets a physical release in the UK but it’s not enough to sway consumers to pick up a copy after hours of gameplay is available on the internet & many being backers of the original early access getting a digital copy straight away. Even though the game has managed to get a physical release on the PC & PlayStation 4, it’s currently a hit and miss from critics with the only highest score on Metacritic being 69% for its PS4 counterpart.
